a comedy of errors...

Aaron is a fantastic husband and dad. However, sometimes his best laid plans don't work out so well. Tonight was one of those nights.

He stopped by the store on the way home to pick up a few things for dinner, and got a bottle of mineral water - a treat for the two of us. Bubbles make dinner seem fancy. (We like Pellegrino.) To get it cold faster, he stuck it in the freezer, and ran off to grill the hamburgers.

We had a great dinner. I wasn't that hungry - we stopped for Mexican food about 1:30, and I was still pretty full. I nibbled; the kids chowed down. I had to run off to a dress rehearsal of the Stake Youth performance, so I said goodnight to the children and ran off.

While I was gone, Aaron put on "Homeward Bound" for the kids. He had seen it on the cable guide a few weeks ago and recorded it to the DVR for such occasion when he needed a fun daddy night. He put on the movie, popped some popcorn, and treated the kids. Isn't he the greatest dad ever? My kids certainly think so.

When was the last time you watched "Homeward Bound?" It has two dogs and a cat that are traveling. They find a little girl who is lost, keep her warm for the night, and help the search party to find her. Sweet, right? Ben was sobbing. Not just crying, but hysterically sobbing. "I'm just so happy, dad!" Alex, not wanting to be outdone, "I'm sad too, dad." Both kids end up in our bed, because they are crying too hard to sleep alone.

I come home from rehearsal, sit down, and get recounted the story of "Homeward Bound." I laughed. No sooner than he finishes telling me the tale, we hear a loud explosion from the fridge.

It takes 5 1/2 hours for a forgotten bottle of mineral water to explode in your freezer.

We just laughed. Aaron is a good sport. Sometimes, he just can't win.

Whew.

Ben is at school.

Alex is at a playdate.

Audrey is taking a nap.

There's no preschool tomorrow.

I have all the stuff for the My Servant Joseph rehearsal tonight done.

The dishes have been done.

I actually have freetime.

Regression

For the past few nights, due to her ear infection, 3 teeth coming in (resulting in a yucky cough), and general uncomfortable-ness, Audrey has been back in bed with us from midnight until morning. Otherwise, she is awake and yelling/crying at us.

Al, after a month or so of staying dry at night, wet her bed TWICE last night. I have a good deal of laundry to do.

Last week was hot. The house would be in the 80's in the afternoons. So Aaron spent the better part of Tuesday, a portion of Wednesday, and a good deal of this morning getting the cooler set up. The rust flakes being removed from the cooler on the roof flaked down into the air ducts and out into the whole house. All of my noble efforts expended on vacuuming the upstairs last weekend are decimated. On top of that, it was 45 degrees when I took Ben to school this morning. No need for the cooler yet, but the heater would have been nice while I was changing Al's sheets in the middle of the night.

Today, for every small step forward, I end up being thrown backwards. Frustrating.

Easter Pics

Happy Easter, everyone! (A day late... oh well.)

Aaron and I went on a date on Friday night, had some really yummy Mexican food, a little Coldstone Ice Cream, and went shopping. It is nice to have just us sometimes!

On Saturday morning, we went to an Ortho Dept. friends' house for an Easter egg hunt. It was totally fun, and the kids had a blast. The only thing not so fun was the weather. The wind kicked up and the storm clouds came in. We got sprinkled on a little bit, and the girls' cute clothes were covered up by sweaters. They didn't mind!

The Easter Bunny brought Ben a Kevin Levin toy (from Ben 10), Alex a "Fur Real Friends" newborn kitty, and Audrey a kiddie pool big enough to share with her brother and sister. I got to sing in the choir at church. It was fun to perform, even a little bit.

Late last night, we realized that Audrey had a fever. We spent a portion of today visiting the pediatrician and getting a prescription for her ear infection. Hopefully, she'll be feeling better soon. And then, I'll be more interesting than this post was. :)

Superteacher!

Today was a preschool day that Heidi Walsh would be proud of! We decorated sugar cookies. No, I did not mix up a recipe - just the break and bake - but yummy nonetheless. :)

And, Audrey joined us for school today. She normally visits with Logan's mommy during preschool, but their whole family is sick. Hopefully, they are better soon!
