Our Halloween started out early. We knew Aaron was going to be on call, so I was all set to take charge in my single parenthood. We were ready to go to the commissary and then we had two Halloween parties. The kids were excited.
So excited that they were awake and up as soon as Aaron left at 6:30 am. In my sleepyness, I picked up the phone to call his cell while he was driving in to the hospital and whine about the fact that they were up.
Then I heard his phone ringing. Crap. He had left the house without his cell phone and pager. About 15 minutes later, the home phone rang with a desperate plea for me to bring him his electronic leashes. After a fast shower and getting the kids ready, we were at the hospital to have breakfast at quarter to nine. It was nice to get to spend a little while, although unexpectedly, with dad.
Almost two hours were spent at the commissary, and the children were wonderful. "If you don't behave, we just won't go to the party" works very well.
We had a great time with the doctors at the first party. They had a jumping balloon and pizza - the kids were in heaven.
Then, we had a quick run to pick up Aaron's birthday present, and off to our ward's Trunk or Treat.
Audrey was out cold, with her crown on. One party was enough for her, and she slept for the next hour and a half - everyone was calling her Sleeping Beauty. :)
By the time we got home, the kids were exhausted, and so happy. We missed our dad, but had a great time anyway. Happy Halloween, everybody!
